Montreal, May 6, 2025<\/strong> \u2013 <\/span>In conjunction with the fourth Montreal Climate Summit, the McConnell Foundation, the Greater Montreal Climate Fund and Vivre en Ville announce the launch of the Low-Carbon, Inclusive and Equitable Urban Transformations project. Implemented in Montreal and elsewhere in Quebec, this project aims to foster the necessary transformations of our living environments, particularly in terms of mobility and the built environment, while ensuring that they benefit the most vulnerable populations, so that no one is left behind.<\/p>\n

At the interface of two challenges – the climate crisis and growing inequalities – the project fits perfectly with the theme of this year’s Montreal Climate Summit, \u201cSo that everyone wins\u201d. Collaborations developed during previous editions of the city’s annual climate summit helped create the conditions for the project’s success.<\/p>\n

\n

This project addresses a systemic issue related to investment decisions in public infrastructure and urban planning. It is consistent with the McConnell Foundation’s mission to support an inclusive, resilient and sustainable society. In addition, this project will promote the development of a more equitable, zero-carbon economy, in line with our climate sphere of interest.<\/blockquote>

The Low-Carbon, Inclusive and Equitable Urban Transformations project has demonstrated a real impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The development of living environments is a major determinant of our carbon footprint. Their transformation must take account of the needs of populations living in poverty or exclusion, and encourage their participation in dialogue, for equitable urban transformations.<\/blockquote>
