Tools for better decision-making

Taking into account municipal issues to better help them

The Municipia pedagogical tool aims to train municipalities to make the right strategic decarbonization decisions, while taking into account financial aspects, possible environmental impacts and the importance of properly sequencing actions over time.

Presented in the form of a workshop, the tool is designed to raise municipal awareness of the following ideas:

  • Not all emission reduction and sustainable development actions have the same impact;
  • The reality of budgetary constraints forces us to prioritize choices from the point of view of environmental efficiency and financial profitability;
  • Some choices are binding and require planning and anticipation;
  • Things have to be done in the right order;
  • And finally, collaboration with other municipalities is essential, because the environment knows no borders!

The game was tested for the first time at the International Summit on Innovation in Median Cities (SIIViM) 2024 in Drummondville. In 2025, it will be deployed in 15 Greater Montreal municipalities.

Quote from IVÉO’s general management

This educational tool on the theme of sustainable cities, developed in the form of a “collaborative serious game”, enables municipalities to immerse themselves in decarbonization and city resilience actions, while figuring out the impacts generated on their territory… and all this, in a context of constrained budgets!
