The IRIU Climate and Adaptation Data Hub

What if data became a real driving force behind the ecological transition of our cities? As part of its Climate and Adaptation Data Hub initiative, the IRIU is rolling out a new generation of regional tools powered by artificial intelligence to help decision-makers and key stakeholders in the Greater Montreal area make more informed decisions. The goal: to accelerate decarbonization and strengthen communities’ resilience to climate change.

From Information to Action

Accelerating the transition, one informed decision at a time

For the past three years, IRIU has been working to promote a just and equitable transition by focusing on the ethical and responsible use of digital and scientific data, the promotion of knowledge, and knowledge-sharing among communities.

Supported by the Greater Montreal Climate Fund, IRIU is now shifting into high gear by working to deploy a collaborative digital infrastructure designed to accelerate the transition and strengthen the resilience of Greater Montreal’s cities. This initiative relies on a shared database and decision-support tools that facilitate action. With the support of artificial intelligence, it aims to automate greenhouse gas inventories, accelerate municipal decision-making, strengthen territorial equity, and improve accountability.

More than just a technical project, this initiative embodies a true vision for the future: to make Greater Montreal a leader in ethical data governance, cross-sectoral mobilization, and coordinated territorial action to accelerate the low-carbon transition.

Director of the Federated Data Hub

Support from the Greater Montreal Climate Fund helps build a critical capacity to accelerate the climate transition: the ability to make better use of data to inform action. Through the PDFI, we are establishing an ethical, streamlined, and sovereign infrastructure that will enable organizations to collaborate more effectively, strengthen community resilience, and support a just transition across the region.
